Signs, Synchronicities & Intuition:
How to Know What’s Real (And What’s Fear)
There comes a point on a healing or manifestation journey where things start to feel… confusing.
You notice repeating numbers. Songs feel like messages. Someone’s name keeps appearing everywhere.
And instead of feeling excited or reassured, you find yourself wondering:
“Is this intuition guiding me… or am I just hoping?”
“Am I receiving signs, or am I reading into things because I’m scared?”
“How do I know what’s real anymore?”
If this resonates, let me say this first: nothing has gone wrong.
This phase doesn’t mean you’re disconnected. It means you’re learning discernment.
And discernment isn’t about being “more spiritual.” It’s about feeling safe enough in your body to hear yourself clearly again.
Why We Look for Signs When We Don’t Feel Safe
When you’ve been through heartbreak, emotional overwhelm, or long periods of self-abandonment, your nervous system learns one thing very quickly:
Certainty feels safer than trust. So when life feels uncertain, the mind looks outward for reassurance.
Signs from the universe. Synchronicities. External confirmation. Not because you’re weak, but because your system is trying to regulate.
This is especially true for intuitive women who are healing. You’re already sensitive, perceptive, and deeply feeling. When safety wobbles, intuition can become entangled with fear. And that’s where confusion begins.
Intuition vs Fear: The Difference Most People Never Explain
Let’s ground this in something practical.
Intuition feels like:
- Calm clarity
- A quiet inner “knowing”
- Spaciousness in the body
- Neutral or loving guidance
- A sense of “I’ll be okay either way”
Fear feels like:
- Urgency
- Tightness or looping thoughts
- Obsession with outcomes
- A need for reassurance
- A sense of “I need this to work”
Fear often disguises itself as intuition, especially when emotions are involved. Not because you’re doing anything wrong, but because the nervous system speaks louder than the soul when it doesn’t feel safe.
What Signs & Synchronicities Actually Are
This is where I want to gently reframe something.
Signs and synchronicities are not instructions. They are reflections. They don’t tell you what to do. They show you where your attention, energy, or beliefs are currently focused.
A sign isn’t saying: “This must happen.”
It’s more like: “Notice this.”
When we attach meaning too tightly, especially from a dysregulated place, signs can become a source of anxiety rather than alignment. The universe doesn’t communicate through pressure. It communicates through resonance.
Why Nervous System Regulation Changes Everything
Here’s the truth I don’t hear spoken about enough in spiritual spaces: Intuition requires safety.
When your nervous system is regulated, intuition feels clear. When it’s dysregulated, intuition gets distorted.
Healing isn’t about becoming more intuitive; it’s about becoming more regulated, so your intuition can rise naturally.
This is why slowing down, grounding, and self-trust are not optional extras in manifestation work. They are the foundation.
A Simple Discernment Practise
Before asking “Is this a sign?” Ask your body first. Take one slow breath.
Then ask yourself:
- Does this feel calming or activating?
- Do I feel grounded or urgent?
- Am I seeking reassurance, or receiving clarity?
If the answer feels tight, rushed, or emotionally charged, pause. That’s not intuition asking you to act. That’s fear asking you to soothe it. And fear doesn’t need answers. It needs safety.
Journaling Prompts for Clarity & Trust
Use these when you feel unsure:
- What am I afraid would happen if I trusted myself fully?
- What does my body need right now, not my mind?
- If I removed urgency from this decision, what would feel true?
- Am I trying to control the outcome, or connect to myself?
Insight doesn’t come from overthinking. It comes from listening inward when the body feels safe enough to speak.
The Reframe That Changes Everything
You don’t need more signs.
You don’t need clearer messages.
You don’t need external validation from the universe.
What you’re actually rebuilding is self-trust.
And self-trust isn’t loud. It’s steady.
The more you learn to regulate your nervous system, the quieter fear becomes, and the clearer intuition feels.

I explore this topic in much more depth in my podcast Aligned & Manifesting, where we talk about signs, synchronicities, intuition, fear, and how to trust yourself again without losing your grounding.
